FIELD: machine building.
SUBSTANCE: in the proposed device and method with its usage a flat sample is made in the form of a disc with a flange retaining a certain volume of a lubricant material, and cylindrical fingers are equipped with a dome-shaped indent at the end in the centre of the finger and several slots on the end part of the finger. Metal-cladding additives are added to lubricant materials providing for appearance of protective servovite and surfing films in friction unit, which increase temperature resistance of lubricant materials in part of realisation of wearless friction, and assessment of temperature resistance of the lubricant material is carried out by measurement of its self-heating temperature in the disc with the flange depending on friction forces at the specified time of operation of a coupling "flat disc - cylindrical fingers" submerged into the lubricant material, or by temperature or time of tests, in process of which the tested lubricant materials starts smoking in the coupling "flat disc - cylindrical fingers".
EFFECT: simplification and increase of assessment reliability.
