TEST METHOD OF LUBRICANTS FOR THERMAL RESISTANCE Russian patent published in 2010 - IPC G01N3/56

Abstract RU 2378637 C1

FIELD: measurement equipment.

SUBSTANCE: invention refers to triboequipment. Method of experimental evaluation of thermal resistance of liquid and plastic lubricants during friction involves test of connection of specimens to tested lubricant at constant load and stepped temperature increase of specimens and lubricant which surrounds them, recording of friction torque during tests, as per the changes of which thermal resistance of lubricants is evaluated. At that, specimens represent three protrusions with curved surfaces located on fixed shoe and contacting the rotating roller. At that, there added are metal cladding additions to lubricants, which provide protective servovit films and surfing films at friction points, which increase thermal resistance of lubricants, and evaluation of thermal resistance of lubricant is performed as per self-heating temperature thereof in bowl from friction forces at specified time of operation of "shoe protrusions - roller" connection, or as per temperature and time of tests at which smoking of tested lubricant is started in "shoe protrusions - roller" connection.

EFFECT: proximity of contacting specimen elements to "plane - plane" type in order to evaluate thermal resistance of lubricants as per their being heated from internal heat source, and not from external one, reducing labour input of test procedure.
