FIELD: mining.
SUBSTANCE: method includes installation of a heat-insulating material onto water surface. Closed polyethylene terephthalate containers are used as a heat-insulating material, and the containers are partially filled with inert material with density that exceeds water density and mass providing for partial submersion of the containers. Inert material providing for partial submersion of containers is represented by sand or crushed stone or gravel.
EFFECT: reduced intensity of water surface heat exchange with atmosphere, which prevents ice formation on water reservoir surface and makes it possible for dredgers and drags manoeuvre freely.
