FIELD: engines and pumps.
SUBSTANCE: valve timing mechanism comprises camshaft, its cams interacting with follower shims, and spring-loaded valves arranged in followers and composed of stems and heads. Plunger is arranged inside said follower, between its end wall and valve stem end. liquid lubricant is forced from ICE lubrication system via flexible pipe into between plunger end and follower end wall. Said flexible pipe accommodates at least two bypass check valves, one prevents lubricant flow from follower inner space toward ICE lubrication system while another one allows said flow into ICE crankcase in plunger displacement in the case of collision between ICE piston and timing gear valve if camshaft drive fails.
EFFECT: ruled out residual deformation of calves in failure of camshaft drive belt.
