FIELD: information technology.

SUBSTANCE: method of decoding a manchester signal involves sampling an input manchester signal with a known transmission frequency at clock sampling frequency not greater than 3 times the transmission frequency, on which there is additional sampling of the input machester signal in the middle of the sampling cycle, and decoding is carried out on the obtained sequence of logic signals which correspond to the level of the input manchester at the beginning and in the middle of the sampling cycle, using a finite-state machine which outputs decoded data and a data-ready signal, and additionally outputs "pause" and "data error" signals, wherein the "pause" signal is output at the end of transmitting a data packet, discarded at the first, the "data error" signal is output if the finite-state machine is unable to uniquely decode data.

EFFECT: decoding a manchester signal at operating frequency of the decoder which is not greater than three times the transmission frequency, recognising the beginning of transmission of a data packet and pauses in between at input signal jigger achieving ±0.16(6) of data transmission perod.
