FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the industry of construction materials and can be used in making gypsum binder and articles. The method of producing gypsum binder based on sludge wastes, which involves mechanical activation of the sludge wastes in a ball mill and heat treatment thereof, is characterised by that the sludge wastes used are sludge wastes from processing catalysts for producing nonferrous metals, having the following chemical composition, %: loss on ignition - 21.12, SiO2 - 0.05, Fe2O3 - 0.06, CaO - 32.0, MgO - 0.10, SO3 - 6.8; the sludge wastes are dried before mechanical activation; mechanical activation is carried out to sieve No02 residue of not more than 2% and heat treatment is carried out at atmospheric pressure.
EFFECT: improved environmental friendliness owing to recycling of wastes, and low power consumption in producing the binder, enabling use thereof in plaster mortar.
