FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to polymer chemistry, particularly a method of modifying the surface of polyethylene terephthalate granulate with functional additives. The method of modifying the surface of polyethylene terephthalate granulate involves treatment thereof with a modifier while heating. The modifier used is a phosphorus-containing prepolymer with isocyanate groups in amount of 2 pts.wt per 100 pts.wt polyethylene terephthalate. The modifier is obtained by reacting a trimer of hexamethylene diisocyanate with content of isocyanate groups of 21.8-22.1% with trifluoroacetic acid in the presence of catalytic amounts of di-n-butyl tin dilaurate with molar ratio of reactants of 1:1:0.003, respectively, in the medium of o-dichlorobenzene at 70°C, ultrasound frequency of 40 kHz for 2 hours. Modification is carried out at 150°C four 4 hours.
EFFECT: invention widens the temperature range of using articles made from polyethylene terephthalate through chemical bonding of the modifier used with a polyester, which increases heat resistance of the polymer.
