FIELD: power industry.

SUBSTANCE: cooling tower includes an open hollow tower located above a water-collecting reservoir and provided with side openings at the bottom, discharge electrodes electrically isolated and installed with a gap relative to an earthed framed structure and connected to a high-voltage power supply source, a cooled water sprayer and a water-collecting device. Above the water-collecting device level there made in the tower cavity are additional side openings; the earthed framed structure is installed in the tower cavity not lower the above side openings at an angle to horizon. Due to additional side openings the moistened air flow after the water-collecting device is cooled with an additional air flow; vaporous moisture is condensed, and energy of ionic wind provides further upward movement of cooled flow in the tower cavity and to the outlet to atmosphere. Drops formed after condensation are separated from the air flow on surface of the earthed electroconductive framed structure and returned to a return water supply system.

EFFECT: improving operating efficiency of a cooling tower and reducing moisture emission from the cooling tower to atmosphere.
