FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: before performing neutron activation analysis, an analysed sample with interfering impurities is fluorinated with ammonium bifluoride. The ratio of the mass of ammonium bifluoride to the mass of the analysed sample is equal to (2-3):1. Fluorination is carried out while heating the sample for a time sufficient to ensure fluorination of the interfering impurities. The fluorinated mixture is calcined to transfer the interfering impurities into a gas phase.
EFFECT: low threshold of detecting gold by neutron activation analysis without losing gold in gold-containing materials.
