FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method of producing tertiary cyclic alcohols of the 2,2'-bithiophene series by reacting 5-bromo-2,2'-bithiophene or 5-iodo-2,2'-bithiophene and magnesium in absolute diethyl ether with a cycloalkane in molar ratio of 1:1:1 (for adamantanol 1:1:0.8), at temperature of 35-36°C for one hour.
EFFECT: simple process due to use of readily available reactants, use of an acceptable molar ratio of reactants, shorter overall duration of the reaction, low cost of production due to a simple reactor scheme.
