SUBSTANCE: invention is intended for separation of dispersed particles from gases, vapors or water. Proposed thickener comprises casing, feed pipe, filtrate and thickened fraction discharge pipe. Said multistart helical hollow casing is composed of rectangular strips coiled in vertical plate in lengthwise direction and curved in helical lines in transverse direction ay cylindrical mandrel to form helical lines and helical curvilinear surfaces along perimetre in the form of helical channels of concave or convex shape relative to casing mirror axis with centers of curvature located outside or onside casing cross-section. Helical spring with device to vary turn pitch by spring compression or expansion is arranged along container length.

EFFECT: higher efficiency of separation and expanded operating performances.
