The control unit performs a separate control operation in space or time, such that the operation includes a first and a second group of separate control operations. In the first case, output voltage is higher than input voltage in the intermediate brightness range, while in the high brightness range, output voltage is higher than input voltage but aims to be lower than voltage in the intermediate brightness range. In the second case, output voltage is lower than input voltage in the intermediate brightness range, while in the low brightness range, output voltage is equal to lower than input voltage but aims to be higher than voltage in the intermediate brightness range.

EFFECT: improved brightness and quality of display in a liquid crystal display.
