FIELD: electricity.
SUBSTANCE: heavy-current bus includes a pair of bowl-shaped conductors located opposite to each other, the cross-section of each of which resembles a half of a hexagon or an open isosceles trapezoid, which are separated with an air gap, both at horizontal and at vertical layout. The air gap improves cooling efficiency owing to natural convection by enlarging the surface area of conductors, which is blown with air flow inside the casing of electric distribution equipment. As a result, total temperature of the bus system decreases. Shaped conductors have smoother junctions for passage of electric current between bends of conductors. Such smooth junctions improve current distribution throughout the conductor, thus weakening surface effect. Due to better heat dissipation and weakening of surface effect, amount of copper required to provide the same current force is considerably reduced. In order to attenuate proximity effect between adjacent buses, magnetic screens can be installed.
EFFECT: optimisation of heat dissipation and current load of heavy-current buses.
