FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to paint compositions for painting surfaces operating in conditions of possible microbial contamination. The paint composition contains binder, a pigment, functional additives and/or filler, nanostructured silver particles obtained from a redox reaction using a natural polysaccharide of arabinogalactan, and a solvent.
EFFECT: invention prolongs biocidal action of the paint coat by up to 5 years and stability of silver nanoparticles during storage of the paint composition and formation of a coating therefrom.
