FIELD: coating compositions.
SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to obtaining a biocidal additive for paints and varnishes. Disclosed is a biocidal additive made of ZnO/ZnFe2O4/Zn composite nanoparticles homogeneously distributed in a solvent and organic compounds for microencapsulation, in which ZnO/ZnFe2O4/Zn composite nanoparticles are used, with an average size of 75-93 nm and a specific surface 8-13 m2/g, each phase of which ZnO, ZnFe2O4 and Zn is evenly distributed within the particle, and organic compounds for microencapsulation are selected from the group including tween 80, diethyl ester of malonic acid, acetoacetic ester, in the following ratio of components, wt.%: composite nanoparticles ZnO/ZnFe2O4/Zn 20-30; organic compounds for microencapsulation 0.5-4.0; solvent 66-79.5. Also disclosed is a method for producing the said biocidal additive.
EFFECT: group of inventions provides a biocidal composition as an additive in antifouling coatings to prevent biofouling of ships and underwater structures due to the content of composite nanoparticles having photocatalytic activity and the ability to generate ROS.
