SUBSTANCE: sensor (100) for capacitive detection of presence of conducting objects (BOD1) has a first signal electrode (10a), a second signal electrode (10b) and a base electrode structure (20). Distance (s3) between the first signal electrode (10a) and the second signal electrode (10b) is less than or equal to 0.2 times the width (s1) of said first signal electrode (10a). At least part of the base electrode structure (20) lies between the first signal electrode (10a) and the second signal electrode (10b).
EFFECT: high sensitivity, longer reading distance, insensitivity to orientation of the object.
