FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: display (100) has pixels which include pixels (R, G, B and Y) of m types (where m is an even number and m≥4), which display different colours. The pixels are arranged such that n of the m types of pixels (where n is an even number, n≤m and n is a divisor of m) a repeatedly arranged in the same order in a direction along a row. Each row of pixels formed by said pixels includes a group of pixels, each associated with n pixels arranged in series in the direction along the row. Gray level voltages with opposite polarities on corresponding signal lines (13) are applied to pixel electrodes (11) in two random neighbouring pixels in each group of pixels. In two random groups of pixels which are neighbouring in the direction along the row, gray level voltages with opposite polarities on corresponding signal lines are applied to pixel electrodes in pixels displaying the same colour. The signal lines include at least one pair of neighbouring signal lines (13p) for applying gray level voltages of the same polarity. The "source-drain" capacitance in pixels lying between the signal lines is less than the "source-drain" capacitance in other pixels.
EFFECT: improved display quality.
