FIELD: chemistry.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method of producing spray dried detergent powder containing: (i) a detergent surfactant; and (ii) other detergent ingredients; where the method comprises the following steps: (a) preparing an aqueous suspension of a detergent in a mixer; (b) moving the aqueous suspension of the detergent from the mixer into a pipe passing through a first pump and then through a second pump to a spray nozzle; (c) bringing the detergent ingredient into contact with the aqueous suspension of the detergent in the pipe after the first pump and before the second pump to form a mixture; (d) spraying the mixture through the spray nozzle in a spray drying tower; and (e) spray drying the mixture to form a spray dried powder, wherein the pressure drop between (i) the pressure in the pipe at the output of the first pump and (ii) pressure in the pipe at the input of the second pump is less than 8×10⁵ Pa.

EFFECT: minimising pressure drop between pumps while maintaining efficiency thereof.
