FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: method involves reduction melting of lead-containing charge containing a lead sulphate-oxide product, pickups of lead decoppering and sprueding metal and ferrous material as a reducing agent, with a flux, for which quartz in the amount of 3-5 parts of quartz per 100 parts of charge is used, and with a reagent containing calcium oxide. Melting is performed at the temperature of 1050-1100°C in a no-soda slag bath rotating at the speed of about 80 mm/sec with high-speed blowing of a poured surface layer with a gas-flame flow with a carbon-containing reducing agent at the speed of 12-16 m/s. With that, at first, sprueding metal and pickups are introduced to the furnace, and after that, lead sulphate-oxide product is introduced.
EFFECT: providing the possibility of improving an ecological situation for organisations of low and medium duty at processing of battery scrap in short-drum furnace; obtaining environmentally more stable vitrified and strong slags with lower class of danger with conversion of lead in slag to oxide vitrified form of PbO*SiO2, which is almost insoluble.
