FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: method comprises the following steps where: a) the permittivity of the multi-component mixture is determined based on an electromagnetic measurement, b) the density of the multi-component mixture is determined, c) temperature and pressure values are obtained, d) based on the results from steps (a)-(c) and knowing the density and permittivity values of the components of the fluid mixture, the water fraction of the multi-component mixture is calculated. The method also involves determining the liquid fraction and flow rates of the multi-component mixture, the method comprising the following steps where: e) a statistical parameter related to the electromagnetic measurement is calculated, f) the liquid fraction is calculated based on the statistical parameter from step (e) and the calculated water fraction from step (d) using an empirically derived curve, g) the velocity of the multi-component mixture is determined, h) based on the results from steps (a)-(g), the flow rate of the individual components of the multi-component mixture is calculated.
EFFECT: high measurement accuracy, providing configuration parameters which are stable with respect to uncertainty.
