FIELD: radio engineering, communication.
SUBSTANCE: access point is configured based on signals received from one or more access points via a direct link. An access point can determine its location based on signals received from several neighbouring macro access points. Access point timing can be synchronised with timing indicated by signals received from one or more neighbouring access points.
EFFECT: synchronising access points in a communication network in positions where GPS based synchronisation cannot be performed.
