FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: described is a method of cutting the duration of residual combustion of a combustible, meltable material. Described is a textile composite which contains an external textile material containing a combustible, meltable material, and a thermosetting material containing a mixture of polymer resin and thermally expanded graphite. The flexible textile composite essentially consists of a combustible, meltable external textile material, a heat-resistant convectional barrier containing expanded polytetrafluoroethylene (ePTFE), and a thermosetting material between the external textile material and the heat-resistant convectional barrier, which is deposited by printing in form of a pattern of discrete points, lines or lines assembled into a mesh, having surface coverage between 30% and 80% and containing a mixture of polymer resin and thermally expanded graphite, represented by a cross-linked polymer and thermally expanded graphite, having expansion of at least about 900 mcm at 280°C and endothermicity higher than or equal to 100 J/g, wherein the combustible, meltable external textile material and the heat-resistant convectional barrier are joined to each other by an adhesive.
