A device for inspecting and visualizing the contents of a volume of interest includes the first tracking block of particle detectors for receiving incoming charged particles that pass through an object and for measuring the position and direction of charged particles that pass through the object while allowing the charged particles to pass through itself. and the second tracking block of particle detectors positioned relative to the first tracking block of particle detectors and the volume of interest containing the object of interest, so that it is positioned to receive outgoing charged particles that pass through the first tracking block of particle detectors and pass through the object of inspection, and measure position and direction of escaping charged particles. The device also includes a processor that processes information from the first and second tracking blocks of particle detectors to provide an estimate of the spatial map of the object's atomic number and density.
