FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: group of inventions refers to medicine, namely to oncology. Treating the metastatic stage of prostate cancer in an individual with initial serum alkaline phosphatase (S-ALP) approximately 150 IU/l (International Unit/l) or more (pre-therapeutic) is ensured by administering degarelix in an initial dose of 160 to 320 mg and further in a maintaining dose of 60 to 160 mg once a day every 20-36 days in the above individual. The similar therapy is prescribed for the purpose of the retention or prevention of the development of localised or locally advanced prostate cancer before the onset of the metastatic stage, and the treatment of the metastatic stage of prostate cancer in the individual having prostate-specific androgen (PSA) 50 ng/ml or more.
EFFECT: using the group of inventions enables the effective and safe treatment of the metastatic stage of prostate cancer in the individual.
