FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to medicine, namely to compositions and methods for long-term release of antagonists of gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH), as well as to their use. A hydrogel composition for long-term release of cetrorelix for a period of time from 1 month to 6 months, when it is administered to a subject, to provide a therapeutic effect for 24 hours after administration contains: therapeutically effective amount of cetrorelix in amount of 1-40% by wt. of the specified hydrogel composition and polymer – polylactic-co-glycolic acid (hereinafter – PLGA) with a molar ratio of lactide:glycolide from 50:50 to 75:25 – present in amount of 10-50% by wt. of this composition. A fluid hydrogel composition for release of cetrorelix for a period of time from 1 month to 6 months, when it is administered to a subject, is described. A method for the production of a fluid composition includes: mixing of PLGA with a molar ratio of lactide:glycolide from 50:50 to 75:25, a biocompatible solvent, and cetrorelix. A method for increase in the duration of release of cetrorelix in a subject for a period of time from 1 month to 6 months is described. A method for maintenance of a therapeutic concentration of cetrorelix in a subject during a period of time from 1 month to 6 months is also described. A method for the treatment of a disease or condition related to gonadotropin-releasing hormone in a subject by administration of a composition is described.
EFFECT: above-mentioned group of inventions allows for achievement of prolonged release of cetrorelix from 1 to 6 months.
