FIELD: radio engineering, communication.
SUBSTANCE: method of making a sensitive element of a thermoluminescent dosimeter involves producing crystalline synthetic diamond at temperature of 1480°C and pressure of 50 GPa. The obtained crystalline synthetic diamond is further annealed at temperature of 1400-2000°C and pressure of 4.5-7.0 GPa, and cooled to room temperature. Further, the crystalline synthetic diamond is subjected to heat treatment at high temperature of up to 470-530°C for 1.5-2.5 hours and gradually cooled to room temperature. The diamond contains boron and nitrogen impurities in concentration of less than 0.1 ppm and not more than 1 ppm, respectively.
EFFECT: wider range of radiation doses detected by the sensitive element of the thermoluminescent detector, especially in the dose range close to natural background radiation, simple, safe preparation of the detector for operation and longer storage time of the accumulated radiation dose.
