FIELD: weapons and ammunition.
SUBSTANCE: invention refers to military equipment and can be used at design or modernisation of artillery-type weapons. A retention device of a breech mechanism wedge of artillery-type weapon includes cams with the main projection, which are installed on lateral sides of the breech mechanism wedge and by means of which the breech mechanism wedge is retained in an open position by being engaged with spring-loaded extractors installed so that they can be rotated irrespective of each other. At least on one of the cams there additionally made is a safety device that interacts with a hook at its being knocked down from the main projection by retaining the breech mechanism wedge in the open position. The safety device is made in the form of a projection with a platform and located on the side and below the main projection relative to extractor rotation trajectory.
EFFECT: improving retention reliability of a breech mechanism wedge of weapon at charging by excluding its premature closure.
