SUBSTANCE: group of inventions refers to medicine. A prosthesis for the plastic surgery of an acetabular rim comprises a prosthesis and a fastening element. In an anterior-posterior projection, the prosthesis has a substantially L-profile and comprises a first flange and second flange. The first flange can be introduced into an acetabulum. The second flange is substantially perpendicular to the first flange and can be placed on the acetabular rim. The fastening element passes through the second flange and is attached to a chondral bone. A method of treating femoroacetabular impingement in the acetabulum involves the following stages: exposing the hip joint by a surgical operation from an anterior approach; stretching the hip joint by separating the femoral bone from the acetabulum; separating an acetabular rim section by removing a first section inside the acetabulum, and a second section substantially perpendicular to the first section on the acetabular rim; placing the prosthesis into the place of the removed first and second sections of the acetabular rim; constraining the stretched hip joint; fixing the prosthesis in the chondral bone in the acetabulum with using the fastening element.

EFFECT: inventions enable the early surgical intervention and represent an alternative to a conventional hip replacement and THA in treating FAI in the above considerable group of patients in cases when conventional arthroscopic techniques are not applicable, recommended or effective.
