FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: invention refers to ophthalmology and may be applicable for surgical management of pterigium. After a pterigium head has been fixed in a conjunctival pocket, a limb and cornea are covered with a silicone hydrogel continuous wear soft contact lens. The scleral portion is cut preliminary twice at a distance specified intraoperatively along the pterigium-free limb; when covering, the scleral portion of the lens enclosed between the cuts is introduced under the displaced pterigium body, herewith mechanically disconnecting the intraoperatively injured limb and conjunctiva.
EFFECT: method enables providing the injured tissue epithelisation.
