FIELD: printing.

SUBSTANCE: tape cassette comprises a cassette housing which accommodates the tape. A part of the lever indicator is provided on the lever front surface of the cassette housing. Part of the lever indicator comprises vertical information sections and a window formed on at least one of the vertical information sections, and indicates a tape type. A person can identify the tape type, visually checking whether the window is formed in each of the vertical information sections. The tape printer comprises detection keys. Part of the detection keys, which is opposite to the surface part other than the window in the part of the indicator of the type, is pressed. The tape printer can identify the same tape type as identified by the visual checking, based on the detection results of the detection keys.

EFFECT: providing the possibility of identifying the tape type as the visual checking of appearance of the test tape cassette, and on the basis of detection results of the detection keys.
