SUBSTANCE: washing machine in accordance with one version of the present invention comprises: a rotatable drum to which the laundry is loaded; an electric motor for rotating the drum; a balancer connected to the drum to change the centre of gravity of the drum; and a control unit which rotates the electric motor at a predetermined rotational speed and then calculates the temperature of the balancer on the basis of frequency of changing the rotation speed of the electric motor.
