FIELD: agriculture.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to agriculture, particularly the breeding of poultry. The method of early assessment of laying hens comprises selection of eggs by weight, shape index and shell defects before loading for incubation. At that the embryos are additionally evaluated by the intensity of the embryonic development in the period of incubation by determining on the 18-19 hour of incubation of the diameter of the embryo and determining at the 63-64 hour of incubation of the diameter of the yolk sac vascular field. At that the embryos are selected which diameter of the yolk sac vascular field is not less than 20 mm, and the difference between the diameters of vascular field and the embryo is in a range of 10-15 mm. The method enables to improve hatchability, safety of chickens up to 16 weeks of age, egg-laying capacity of hens for 45 weeks of life, and to accelerate the onset of puberty of hens at 4.0-5.0 days.

EFFECT: highly significant proportion of genotypic variability in the intensity of embryonic development in the offspring phenotype and correlation with economically useful signs.
