SUBSTANCE: proposed method comprises forecasting will move soon over steep downslope, simulating the conditions to define if fuel consumption decreases is free running function is deactivated before vehicle reaches more steep downslope compared with the conditions when free running function is actuated on reaching said more steep downslope, and throwing out free running function before vehicle reaches more steep downslope if fuel consumption decreases. Vehicle comprises engine, automatic mechanical transmission, engine driven drive wheels, free running devise and engine control unit. Engine can drive said drive wheels via automatic mechanical transmission. Control unit controls said free running device, engine and automatic mechanical transmission. Control unit allows fulfilling the jobs of above described method.
EFFECT: higher fuel efficiency.
