FIELD: chemistry.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method and apparatus for producing synthesis gas (S) from solid carbon particles (C), wherein said carbon particles (C) are obtained by pyrolysis; gasification of the carbon particles (C) is carried out by indirectly heating the carbon particles (C) in the presence of a process gas (P) in the same reactor space as the carbon particles (C), wherein the indirect heating is carried out using thermal radiation from burners (Br1-Brn) situated in the reactor (1), and synthesis gas (S) formed during gasification is released from said space. The apparatus has a reactor, at least one burner (Br1-Brn) situated inside the reactor, apparatus for feeding carbon particles and process gas into the inner space of the reactor and a means of releasing the formed synthesis gas (S), wherein at least one burner (Br1-Brn) is capable of burning inside a radiant heating pipe and providing thermal radiation therefrom for indirectly heating the carbon particles (C) and the process gas (P) inside the reactor.

EFFECT: high thermal efficiency of the gasification reactor.
