FIELD: chemistry.

SUBSTANCE: method of producing glycerin alkyl ethers, which contain di- and/or trialkyl ethers, via etherification of glycerine with linear, branched or cyclic olefin hydrocarbons having 2-10 carbon atoms, and/or corresponding aldehydes, ketones and alcohols, in the presence of a homogeneous acid catalyst, where the olefin hydrocarbon having 2-10 carbon atoms and/or corresponding aldehydes, ketones and alcohols and glycerine are used in a molar ratio ranging from 0.1:1 to 10:1, the method involving: a step for carrying out a reaction, where a first reaction period occurs in a multi-phase system which includes a polar glycerine phase primarily consisting of glycerine and a homogeneous acid catalyst, and a nonpolar hydrocarbon phase primarily consisting of olefin hydrocarbons having 2-10 carbon atoms, and/or corresponding aldehydes, ketones and alcohols, and in which a second reaction period occurs in a single reaction phase in which the etherification reaction takes place and formation of olefin oligomers is hindered; and a step for neutralising the acid catalyst and separating the formed salt.

EFFECT: method enables to obtain glycerine ethers with low content of mono-ethers and which do not contain by-products formed during oligomerisation of olefin.
