SUBSTANCE: in the method of reducing overhead of information for checking data integrity in a wireless communication system, upon receiving a message, a first integrity check parameter is compared with a second integrity check parameter to detect integrity error of the message. If an integrity error exists in the message, the frequency of occurrence of the integrity error is counted. If the frequency of occurrence of the integrity error is higher than a certain threshold, a key update procedure is performed.

EFFECT: reducing authentication overhead, used to check integrity, added to a message transmitted in a communication system.
