FIELD: process engineering.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to machine building and can be used at machining at repair of rolling stock work-out parts, in particular, car wheel band surface. Thermomechanical damages are removed by local plunger grinding. Said damages on wheel rolling surface are ground off by grinding wheel prior to reconditioning the wheel profile by blade tool. Grinding is made unless complete removal of flaws from wheel hardened metal layer to recover metal hardness on wheel rolling surface in zone of allowance for blade tool.

EFFECT: decreased consumption of blade tools, longer life of railway wheels.
