FIELD: restoration of profile of worn railway road wheels. SUBSTANCE: method comprises steps of preliminarily detecting on profiled portion of wheels presence of thermomechanical flaws such as visually observed arc-shaped crackings and(or) metal swells; placing wheel pair in metal cutting machine tool and moving cut volume of profiled portion of wheel relative to cutting edge of cutting tool due to rotating wheel pair around its own axis; in order to increase useful life period of cutting tool, moving cut volume of profiled portion of wheel relative to cutting edge of cutting tool in direction opposite relative to rotation direction of wheel pair before time moment of formation of above mentioned thermomechanical flaw at skidding wheel on rail. EFFECT: enhanced efficiency of method. 5 dwg, 2 ex
