FIELD: physics, navigation.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to radar information trajectory processing devices. The method involves transmitting to the input of the device for determining time of end of the active phase of a trajectory missile range measurement data through identical time intervals equal to the radar scanning period; calculating squares of range values; generating a fixed sample of squares of range values of the "sliding window" type; finding an estimate of the second increment of the square of the range via optimal weighted summation of the sample of squares of range values; dividing said estimate by the radar scanning period squared and obtaining an estimate of acceleration on the square of the range; calculating the root-mean-square error of the estimate; in each new position of the "sliding window", comparing the estimate of acceleration on the square of the range with the root-mean-square error of the estimate. The decision about the end of the active phase is taken at a time when the estimate of acceleration on the square of the range becomes greater than the mean-square error of the estimate.

EFFECT: high sensitivity of devices for determining the time of end of the active phase of a ballistic trajectory by excluding measurements of the elevation angle from the processed samples.
