SUBSTANCE: invention may be used in internal combustion engines. Internal combustion engine with spark ignition includes compression ratio change mechanism that may change the mechanical compression degree and valve closing and opening moment change mechanism that may control the moment at which the inlet valve is closed. Preset is inlet prohibited area for combination of mechanical compression degree and inlet valve closing time, and installed is prohibited area for combination of mechanical compression degree and inlet valve closing moment. For operating point, presenting a combination of mechanical compression degree and inlet valve closing moment, prohibited area inlet is prohibited. When required quantity of sucked in air changes, purpose operating point is calculated which may be achieved during fixed time without inlet in the specified prohibited area from the current operating point towards operating point complying with required quantity of sucked-in air, thus changing mechanical compression degree and inlet valve closing moment in relation to the purpose operating point.
