FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to medicine, particularly to ophthalmology. The early diagnosis of primary open-angle glaucoma and preglaucoma is ensured by the biochemical study of a lachrymal fluid for the malondialdehyde, nitrogen oxide metabolites. Besides, a lachrymal catalase activity is measured. An antioxidant protection coefficient is calculated. If the catalase activity is less than 2.6±0.36 mcat/l, the malondialdehyde content is more than 10.36±0.65 nmole/ml, the antioxidant protection coefficient is less than 0.23-0.27, the nitrogen oxide content increases more than 8.9±0.8 mcmole/l, the nitrogen monoxide content decreases less than 2.83±0.31 mcmole/l, the onset of the glaucomatous process in an eye that is pre-glaucoma or a first stage of the disease.
EFFECT: method enables determining the variations of lachrymal biochemical values which make it possible to diagnose primary open-angle glaucoma.
