FIELD: medicine. SUBSTANCE: method involves carrying out biochemical examination of lacrimal fluid to determine contents of lipid peroxidation like diene conjugates, Schiff bases, conjugated ketatrienes, malonic dialdehydes, catalase activity. Diene conjugates being greater than 0.437 conditional units/ml, Schiff bases being greater than 0.036 conditional units/ml, conjugated ketatrienes being greater than 0.242 conditional units/ml, malonic dialdehydes being greater than 7.36 ml mole/mm in traumatically injured eye under conditions of more marked lipid peroxidation activation and catalase activity reduction being less than 2 mc cat/ml on matched healthy eye relative to the injured eye, potential sympathetic ophthalmia development is to be predicted. EFFECT: high accuracy of prediction.
