FIELD: electricity.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to railway automation and telemechanics. The method of diagnosing the state of electrical resistance of rails in track circuits on alternating current traction sections involves measuring potential drop on sections of primary windings of impedance bonds installed at ends of the track circuit, calculating traction current in rails at the ends of the track circuit and asymmetry coefficients thereof. If the asymmetry coefficients of the traction current exceed their allowable value at the beginning and/or end of the track circuit, the method involves further calculation of the degree of decrease of traction current rails by dividing the value of traction current at the beginning of the respective rail by the value of the traction current at the end of the rail. The calculated values of said degrees of decrease of traction current are then compared with the nature of asymmetry thereof at the ends of the rail and reasons for high asymmetry of traction current are then determined.

EFFECT: high accuracy of obtained results.
