FIELD: testing equipment.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to diagnostics in railway transport for checking the condition of grounding circuits. Method measures the voltage drop across a length of rail of the same length on the other side of the connection point to the grounding rail. Then, by dividing the difference in the voltage drops before and after the connection to the rail of the grounding circuit, the magnitude of the voltage drop with a larger value is found by the relative amount of leakage of the traction current through this circuit. If there is a leak to determine the difference in the values of the asymmetry of the traction current in the rail line before and after the connection point to the grounding rails, calculate the ratio of the voltage drop difference on the other rail and voltage drops with a smaller value on the rail with a grounding circuit connected to it to the sum of these voltage drops and the ratio of the voltage drop difference on the other rail and the voltage drop with a larger chain value on this rail to the sum of these voltage drops, and then find the difference of these ratios.

EFFECT: increase in the efficiency of diagnostics of the state of the grounding circuits on the rails of the contact network supports is achieved.
