SUBSTANCE: invention relates to electrical machines. The quality of earthing of an electrical machine must be controlled more efficiently. Hence an electrical machine is disclosed, having a stator (1), a rotor (2), a shaft (3), on which the rotor (2) is mounted, and an earthing device (5) for earthing the shaft (3), which further includes a measuring device (6) for measuring the earthing current of the earthing device (5) and for providing the corresponding measured value. Furthermore, the electrical machine includes a control device (7) for controlling the earthing function of the earthing device (5) based on the measured value.
EFFECT: enabling continuous monitoring, for example, of the state of the earthing brush with respect to contamination and wear.
