FIELD: measurement equipment.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to control of metal hardness on a stationary durometer and may be used for multiple control of hardness of metal samples under specified established negative temperature, for instance, for indirect assessment of critical brittleness temperature (CBT) with usage of temperature dependences of hardness produced on the metal sample, sufficient to measure hardness, in cases, when it is not possible to determine CBT according to impact bending test results due to absence of sufficient quantity of metal for manufacturing of samples. The durometer comprises a body, an object stage with the possibility of rotation and vertical movement, an indenter with a system of movements and a system of sample loading. The durometer is equipped with a system of cooling and regulation of sample temperature, comprising a Dewar vessel with liquid nitrogen, supply and drain hoses, connected to the object stage, which is made in the form of a chamber with a heat insulating body and a cuvette placed inside of it with alcohol for the sample. The chamber body is equipped with a temperature sensor, the supply hose is connected with the Dewar vessel via a regulating tap, and on the drain hose there is a manometer and a duplicating tap.
EFFECT: possibility of multiple measurement of hardness on one metal sample at specified established negative temperature.
