FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: first, aluminium lumps are filled in melt surface to make continuous aluminium oxide ply 0.5-1.5 m in depth. Then, aluminium oxide ply is filled with silicocalcium powder to produce the second continuous 0.5-2 mm deep ply of slag. Formed slag ply is filled with cover material ply to make the third continuous thick 2-3 mm deep ply. Then, 15 mm deep ply of said cover material is filled in the surface of said third thick ply to produce the slag top ply. Now, spheroidising modifier is added and filled with said cover material powder. Note here that said modified is held in water before adding it to the melt.
EFFECT: efficient protection of cover, hence, increased weight of modified iron, decreased magnesium and cerium waste.
