FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of metallurgy, in particular, to the method for control of flow and braking of flow of a non-ferromagnetic melt with the help of magnetic fields when discharged from metallurgical reservoirs. The method includes directing of the melt flow in a closed guide element, using at least two magnetic fields, arranged in series one after another in direction of the melt flow. The specified magnetic fields have permanent and opposite polarity to each other, at the same time lines of magnetic field in the transverse direction penetrate into the melt flow along its entire cross section, and magnetic fields induce voltages of opposite sign in the melt flow, as a result of which at least three fields of vortex currents are produced in the melt flow, which are arranged along the axis one after another. During interaction of magnetic fields and vortex currents there are forces that arise and are used to reduce speed of melt flow.
EFFECT: control of melt flow speed.
