FIELD: machine building.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a honeycomb seal used to minimise gas leakages inside an engine, in particular, between a stator and a rotor of turbines. The seal intended to isolate a rotating part from the stator in a jet engine or a gas turbine engine comprises a honeycomb element and a supporting plate made as a solid unit; at that the honeycomb unit consists of an electric erosion machined base element and a mechanically machined base element covered by a coating containing iron (Fe), chromium (Cr), aluminium (Al) and/or yttrium (Y). The seal base element is made from steel or stainless steel. When manufacturing the proposed seal, the mechanically machined base element being a solid unit with honeycomb cells is coated with iron (Fe), chromium (Cr), aluminium (Al) and/or yttrium (Y) by vapour deposition.
EFFECT: invention provides for improved corrosion resistance of the seal in a jet engine or a gas turbine engine under high temperatures and fabrication of a honeycomb cell as a solid unit with the base element provides for no need in soldering for the seal manufacturing.
