FIELD: physics, optics.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to urethane acrylates of formula (I), which can be used to produce materials with a high refraction index. In formula (I), R1, R2, R3, R4, R5 denote a hydrogen atom or a halogen atom or an alkyl group, having 1-6 carbon atoms, a trifluoromethyl group, an alkylthio group having 1-6 carbon atoms, an alkylseleno group having 1-6 carbon atoms, an alkyltelluro group having 1-6 carbon atoms, or a nitro group, under the condition that at least one substitute from the group R1, R2, R3, R4, R5 does not denote hydrogen, R6, R7 denote hydrogen or an alkyl group having 1-6 carbon atoms, A denotes a saturated or unsaturated or linear or branched alkyl residue, having 1-6 carbon atoms, or a polyethylene oxide residue (m=2-6), or a polypropylene oxide residue (m=2-6), wherein at least one substitute from the group R1, R2, R3, R4 and R5 is an alkylthio substitute having 1-6 carbon atoms. The invention also relates to a method of producing urethane acrylates of formula (I), use thereof to produce holographic media or holographic photopolymer films, a method of exposing said media and films, as well as moulded articles and holographic optical elements made from urethane acrylates of formula (I).
